I always mention food and cooking in my books since they’re such an important part of Amish life, but you might be surprised to find out this little tidbit–I don’t like to cook. Sometimes I get in the mood to cook, and usually by the time I’m halfway through a recipe I’m questioning my sanity. That said, I do like to look at recipes and imagine myself cooking. Unfortunately that doesn’t get any cooking done, but it is fun!

When I do cook, I love easy recipes, and my favorite Amish recipe is super simple: Peanut Butter Spread. I don’t make or eat this often because, calories (a whole lot of them!), but if Peanut Butter Spread is sitting in front of me, I’m gonna eat it, especially if accompanied by fresh Amish bread!

If you do a search for Amish Peanut Butter Spread you’ll find a lot of different recipes. Here’s one that’s simple and oh so delicious!

Hard to believe that’s it, but that’s really it! I think I’ll make some for the holidays, since calories don’t count at Thanksgiving and Christmas. 😉

Question: Have you ever had Peanut Butter Spread? What’s your favorite Amish meal/recipe?
